I am cutting weight for a fight and I use 2% milk always with my whey. It adds some casein protein and contains good fat, and of course it tastes better. If I feel I need to reduce calories I prefer to take them from somewhere else, like carbs, rather than deprive myself of the nutrient dense milk. This works great for me.
I think it is important to point out that I also include a regimen of the basics as suggested in this very forum (see stickies):
whey protein (mixed with milk)
greens+
fish oil
multi
beta-alanine
and just added a nootropic type formula for training days
I am 5'9" and weighed 178 when I started this, I don't know my BF% but probably around 10 - 11% at the time. I consume about 1700 - 2000 cals a day, mostly protein and fat... and most carbs come from fruit and veggies though I do cheat on Saturdays. I train 5 days a week.
My results have been excellent. about 7 pounds shed in the last month and I truly believe I have gained some muscle. I am definitely more explosive. All thanks to sherdog cuz I didn't do sh** but train and eat meat and potatoes before I started reading the D&S.
