Rate my possible purchase
Ok,to preface this I am a novice Pro MMA fighter, lost my last fight controversally and I'm getting back to training pretty hard soon because I'm going back home from college and I'll be able to train alot more there.I'm 6'2 and 165ish right now and I fight at 155.I don't know what my body fat is but I'd venture to say it's around 10%,I'm bad at guessing.I'm looking to add about 5-8 lbs of muscle this summer.I'm looking forward to getting off my meal plan which I had to be on since I'm a first year student in the dorms, so I will probably be a lot leaner this summer.I have trouble gaining weight, and always have.I'm not much of a supplement user, I prefer to eat food and I don't need much help in food nutrition, but I'm looking to add supplements to my training to gain some muscle.I'm looking to put on as much muscle as I can and still be able to make 155 somewhat comfortably.
I have used muscle milk for a little bit,and I liked that,so I decided I'm going to get a 5 lb. tub of the Dymatize knock off.I plan on using this right after lifting. I was thinking about getting either some GABA or ZMA as I have read it helps build muscle and GABA can help with sleep, which I have been not having much of,and they are both relatively inexpensive. The third supplement I planned on getting is either flaxseed or fish oil.
So to wrap it up,
Dymatize MegaMilk
ZMA and/or GABA
Flaxseed and/or Fish oil caplets.
Thanks for the help.

I don't get why so many people buy ZMA. I get all my Zinc and Mag in my Multi-vitamin and whatever I can pull out of my whole foods.
Does taking them as ZMA making them absorb better or give a different effect? If not, check your MV and if you have all the Zinc and MAg you need, why not save money and not buy ZMA?

Get the ZMA or multivitamin. Skip the GABA.
Get fish oil over flax oil.
Dymatize is fine for all but PWO. There's a great special on Countdown at DPS Nutrition right now ($18 for over 4 pounds). Get that for PWO.
If you're not too worried about weight for the immediate future, get creatine.
That's 4-5 solid supplements. About as good as it gets.

I don't get it either. Are people still deficient in zinc and mag. even if they use a good multi. and have solid diet?

Well, some of the experts don't use a multivitamin in their clients' regimen. But the mineral athletes are most often deficient in is magnesium. So they put them on ZMA instead of a MV.

I read that ZMA works because of the ratio of zinc to magnesium in it,maybe I'm just falling for BS but I read in it a couple articles. Would any store bought multi-vitamin suffice?
Also,if I got the Dymatize what time would you recommend taking it? Just with a meal? I think im going to get the countdown 4 lbs from DPS.
Thanks for the feedback!

You should take the casein supplement (Muscle Milk or Dymatize) before bed (to get your body plenty of amino acids and nutrients while you sleep and also take it anytime you need a meal replacement.

My multivitamin & mineral has 50MG of Mag. and 15MG of Zinc per serving. Biotest's ZMA supplement has 450MG of Mag. and 30MG of Zinc. So, the ZMA supplement has 9x the amount of mag. and twice as much zinc as my multi. I think the real question is how much magnesium is really required by athletes?
Also, if anyone knows what foods are high in magnesium I love to know. I'd like to try to guess how much I'm taking in a day from food.
And what is the significance with taking this before bed?
