Putting on lean mass?

Hi, new to D&S and I've read the stickies as well as researched abit on my own. I've gotten myself some fish oil and started trying to eat as much and as clean as I can. The thing is, I want to try to put on some weight for judo, but my classes and training schedule make it kinda hard to get 5 meals a day.

I've been lifting for 3 years now but without any proper diet and just generally drinking milk and eating whatever I can find but I still consider myself skinny. The problem is, I don't know if I can eat enough with a 5-day training schedule. I lift 3 days a week and have judo training 2 times a week. I also have long classes that last 8 hours a day with only 1 hour breaks inbetween. Lately, I've been sneaking packets of mixed nuts to eat inbetween classes but I don't know if its enough. Any tips?

I like the part where you said, "I've read through the stickies". That was a good one.

Seriously though, you can find time to eat. Make yourself a shitload of brown rice to take in a tupperware.

Also, protein shakes, not as a meal replacement, but as a snack.

If you are able do this: 3 "bigger" meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 2 smaller snacks (morning and afternoon) and one in the evening. Then you have 5-6 meals.

Training 5 days a week is not an impediment, talk to me when you're training 12 times a week. The key is to never let yourself get hungry, and if necessary really force yourself to eat...over time your body will adjust and it won't be such a struggle. Also, make sure you're getting plenty of sleep, and fueling your workouts properly pre- and post. Lots of milk and eggs are a good idea for the perennially skinny.

If you could pack a small lunch "cooler" you could bring the following foods that will give you enough calories throughout the day:

- chicken breast
- bell peppers
- spinach
- green beans
- almonds
- mixed nuts
- protein powder
- peanut butter
- hard boiled eggs
- cottage cheese

This is what I bring to work everyday. I eat three times at work -- once in the morning, once at lunch and once in the afternoon. So, including breakfast and the two times I eat when I get home from work this makes 6 times I eat during the day.
