ON protein shake before & after workout?

Ok, I just got a tub of ON (optimum nutrition) protein to start taking.
I will be having 2 servings (shakes) a day of this stuff to get my protein intake high enough. 1 of the servings will PWO. But I'm not sure when to take the other.
Should I take it right before my workout or sometime earlier (or later) in the day? I usually eat something about 1 hour before my workout to have some energy and a little protein, but I don't if I should also have a protein shake right before my workout as well.(since I'm having another PWO)

Any thoughts?

First thing in the morning is agood time to take one as your body has been in starvation mode all night.

You get "protein windows" where your body is able to absorb higher than normal volumes of protein, and PWO and first thing in the morning are where these "windows" occur.

I usually have 3 a day, 2 scoops per shake with milk, one about an hour before my workout, one directly after and one just before bed. There really isn't a bad time to take protein. You really just want to make sure you always have some in your system so your body never runs out and becomes catabolic

You never specified which type of ON protein you got, but I'm going to guess whey. If you happen to have some casein too, I would mix the 2 together (half serving each) and take it in the morning and then just have a whey shake PWO. I prefer milk protein for the morning time.

Better having it in water PWO as it faster absorbed when your body needs it, then have a meal about 45-60 mins later including protein and some complex crabohydrates such as brown rice, wholmeal pasta etc

Casein protein is good in milk before bed as its slowly released throughout the night as you sleep, add some oil like fish oil or flax and it gives you some good fats and slows digestion down even further.
