Pre Judo/BBJ class meal?

Ok here is the deal. I’m starting Judo on Monday. The classes are Mon and Wed. On Mondays it won’t be difficult for me to eat a proper meal before going to class so that I have fuel to carry me through, as my days of from work are Sunday/Monday. On Wednesday’s it will be a different story. Wednesdays are my leg and back day for lifting, which is my toughest but most important day of the week.

My schedule on Wednesdays will be like this, Leg and back workout from 12:30-1:30. Work from 3:30-6:15, Judo class from 6:30-8:00, back to work from 8:15-1:00. I need to eat something on my drive from work to Judo class, so I’m thinking I should do something like a meal replacement bar and a bottle of water so I have the vitamins and carbs to carry me through the class. I would probably use a Met-rx bar or a xience bar as they both taste ok and they both are crammed full of good stuff for you.

Is this a good idea? Any suggestions.

Personally, I can't eat anything solid within about an hour of my BJJ/MMA class, or else I get sick. I usually have a sports gel instead. Gels are easier to digest and don't make me sick.

Sports gels are more popular with runners/cyclists. They are a concentrated carbohydrate in a gel form, kind of like a honey consistency. I use them mountain biking, too.

Look up "Hammer Gel" from Hammer Nutrition.

It might be cheaper to make you own meal replacement bar. That would be cheaper and you could control exactly what goes into it. I would say nuts, oatmeal, protein powder, and honey alond with whatever else ya felt like throwing in there.

Good suggestion. I used some Gel products before, and loved them.
