Well if, like me, you're on a permanent diet I guess none of this matters - PB, natural or not, is relegated to small dollops in shakes and/or (for me) cheat foods.

The addition of peanut oil or coconut oil to cholesterol-supplemented diets has been shown to produce lesions of a fibrous nature in several species.
So, I have to stop eating coconut oil now also?

Highly doubt it; they don't specify the TYPE of coconut oil used (nor peanut oil for that matter.) Could have been a highly hydrogenated version.

Taube's book Good Calories/Bad Calories is shedding a bit o' light on the Kritchevsky studies, making reference to the amounts of peanut oil used in the studies. So far, he's only eluded to them, and perhaps will go more in depth further into the book.

Does anybody have any other links to studies/proof about the atherogenicity of peanut oil/butter other than the ones listed here? I haven't been able to find any - or is that just part of the peanut lobby conspiracy?

It's a total conspiracy, even more severe than the Roswell cover-up

I haven't come across anything else. I'm only a few chapters into Good Calories/Bad Calories, and I hoping there'll be light shed on this; so far, Taubes has gone into a HIGHLY detailed history regarding the lipid hypothesis., and Kritchevsky seems to be one of the key players. Quite enlightening.

Thanks Mike - please post anything you find. I've started preaching the horrors of peanut oil and have cut it out of my diet, but it would be nice to have something else to cite other than that one study focusing on the lectin content as the likely culprit.
