Optimum Nutrition Mor'sos are delicious

I dropped by Vitamin Shoppe yesterday to get some more shakers and finally ran into Mor'sos, Optimum Nutrition's "Gourmet Protein Bites." I picked up a pack of all three flavors, Chocolate Brownie, Cookies and Cream, and Peanut Butter, for $1.79 each. The pack has two pieces of what basically looks like an oversized version of something you'd see at a fancy chocolate shop. The nutrition facts are decent for a product of this type: 9g fat (6g saturated), 31g carbs (3g fiber, 17g sugar), 20g of protein. The serving size is one package, but I'd be hard pressed to eat more than one piece.

Apart from the fact that they look delicious, they actually taste delicious too. No grittiness, no weird aftertaste, they are smooth and relatively soft, a little chewy. You aren't going to break your jaw like you will with some other protein bars.

The peanut butter and chocolate brownie flavors are the best... cookies and cream isn't too far behind. I have my fingers crossed for a chocolate mint or chocolate peanut butter flavor...

Sounds like something worth avoiding. That's a lot of sugar and saturated fat.

I get the chocolate brownie. And there are plenty other products out there that are contain much more sugar and saturated fat and will cost more and not contain a good source of protein.

What's point are you trying to make? "It's not the smelliest turd around" doesn't make it a good product.

If all the ultra-sweet shakes haven't killed your taste buds and you're craving something sweet there are a lot worse things you could eat... Frank Shamrock said something about downing a box of twinkies on cheat days. Better a mor'so or two than that...
