Omega 3 fatty acids pt2 Fish oils vs Flax seed oils

Hey, i was wondering if KK can help me out.. i read many of his post and hes very informative..

So ive been reading alot on flax oils and fish oils containing omega 3 and have a couple questions:

1) Generally speaking is one better then the other? does it offer something the other doesn't?

2.) Wouldn't the fish oils contain harmful mercury?

3.) The flax oil supplement (pill) im gonna take is 1000mg, would you say thats too much?

1) flax has alpha linolenic acid which needs to be converted to EPA and DHA in ur liver.. whereas fish oil has ready-made EPA and DHA... it's just a matter of preference

2) not if u get a good brand

3) no

A good brand of fish oil is Kirkland's signature.

Flax seed oil also has the omega-6 fatty acids. The American diet generally gets enough omega-6 fatty acids but not enough of the emoga-3s.

Sudo pretty much answered the questions. The mercury thing though, that's a long-standing debate. To my knowledge there haven't been any mercury related problems with any Fish Oil supplement GNC has sold (I've been there just over 3 years so within that timespan).

Well, Im not KK but here's my input.

Save the plant based products for the girls, they seem to convert them better than men.

Men stick to the animal sources.

But thats my motto and I'll rip you in half if you wish.

Eat the flax seeds, don't take the pills.

For supplementation, Chad? I wouldn't do that.

I mean, if you're eating the right amount of protein and it's not all coming from shakes (because you're too pussy to eat a steak), then yeah, you need more animal protein. But if you eat a ton of meat and eggs and drink milk, you're gonna get plenty of animal fat even if the meat sources are lean.

That is one thing I notice in common among guys who aren't just "big", but lean mass big. When I got out to a steakhouse, they get the heaviest steak on the menu, even if it isn't their favorite cut. Shit, that's always me. Love the Ribeye, but you gotta be fucking kidding me with that 16 oz. bullshit.

I just ordered some from here

http://www.zonelabsinc.com/servlet/c...sComController

I got the 120 count bottle, came out to $57.06 shipping via USPS. They have a pretty good discount system if you use the autoship option where they automatically send you more. I didn't take them up on the option, wanna see if I feel different after a month or two of it.
