Icon4 The Official Good Snacks thread:

Because some of us are either on FULL eating regimens, or because the rest of us are simply too much of whiny sissies to NOT snack, as I was buying some of my smart goodies I figured a thread about it might be good. Now this is going to be more of "out of the way" shit you might not have heard of. But I'll list what they are, what's good about them, and attempt to provide a visual...because you know, no one likes to think for themselves. lol

Of course there's the thread I did about Boomi bars. Parents, this is what you give your kids to keep them off the fucking twinkies and shit:

Boomi - for smart snacking.

They're all natural, none of those binders that protein bars use that give them that hidden carb nonsense. And Boomi has also started making more protein-fortified versions with less fruit.

Now here's another bar I started using. Let us be clear, I hate, HATE Veganism. Not Vegans, Veganism. But leave us not debate about that. I mention it because this is a Vegan bar. What intrigued me about it IS NOT that it's Vegan, it's the nutritional information and that it tastes good. It's just called "The Natural Whole Food Bar" and the one I like is the "Crunchy Almond" version:

The great thing about this bar is that it is almonds, so you get the good fats, plus decent protein content in this bar, and relatively low sugar. If anyone knows anything about whole food bars they tend to be on the higher-end of the sugar spectrum as they use more natural fructose sources.

Which brings me to the next decent Hippie bar.

Renew Life makes the "Organic Fiber Bar", and I'm willing to wager most of you don't get enough fiber. This bar has over 50% of your necessary daily intake of fiber in one bar, and here are the vitals:

Quote:
• 14Grams of Fiber Per Bar
• Dairy-Free
• Soy-Free
• Gluten-Free
• Vegan
• Non-GMO
• Raw Food
• Cold Pressed
• Kosher
• No Added Sugar
• No Preservatives
• Available in Chocolate Dream, Awesome Apple, Lemon Burst and Cranberry Craze
I have tried the Cranberry Craze and it's not the best tasting bar. But for fiber and an all natural smart snack, this is the way to go. Fair warning though, it gets the gears turning. Expect to HAVE to take a dump. It's also a little high on the sugar end at 20g, but that's 0g of refined sugars. So don't worry about it too much. This bar is mostly just high fiber fruit smashed together bonded with some nutritional oil.

Now for all of you weak-willed nerds who can't keep your hand out of the cookie jar, I present to you a very good alternative. Jennies Coconut Macaroons:

http://www.zerocarbsjenniesmacaroons...roducts_t.html

These things are just 3 simple ingredients (Urban, this means YOU can make your own), which is coconut, egg whites, and honey. That's it. 7g of good fat, 15g of natural sugar, no artificial ingredients. Serving size is very small though, 2 cookies. But these also have that laxative affect, so they'll keep you in check because if you eat too many, you'll pay for it on the back end...or rather, out the back end. lol

And next for all you candy-lovers. These next two items are a MUST-have. This is another good one for parents who buy your kids shit to pacify them, buy them these and you won't end up on a "look at my fat-ass kid" talk show:

http://www.halvah.biz/Sesame.php

These things are DAMN tasty and again, all natural. Ingredients are Sesame seed, sugar, corn syrup (NOT HIGH FRUCTOSE), and honey. See with all those natural sugar sources here's the best part...only 7g of sugar for 3 pieces of the smaller candies. That's not that bad at all.

Next up, kids like licorice? Who in the Hell doesn't? I personally HATE black licorice, but I like that tasty fruit-flavored crap. So here you go:

http://www.panda.fi/engl/allnatural.php

And they do make a Raspberry Confection and even a Strawberry one. Both very tasty, and as far a ssugar content it's 18g for 15 pieces of the soft chews. I never eat more than 3 or 4, so that's not a problem.

Here's one for all of you'se what likes wafers and shit.

http://www.exerciseandnutritionworks...h-cookies.aspx

These things are AWESOME. They taste so good it's insane. Since we started carrying them my store has almost continuously been out of stock.

That's it for now. Oh and a tip to any of you who started buying MesoTech and Labrada's Oat Bars. Put them in the microwave for like 15 seconds, it's just like having warm cake.

Great post KK. The natural bar sounds good. Might have to order some of those.

You'll be surprised at the tastiness of the items listed in this thread. Between this and the Voodoo thread (in the FAQ Sticky), everyone's household should be good to go.

I'm a big baby carrot fan. I can easily go through a whole bag of them a day. They're good for you and really tasty, too.

Be sure to eat them quick, though, or they get nasty in a hurry.

When it comes to snacking, I'm partial to beef jerkey, rice cakes, and popcorn (air popped or natural). My wife buys a bag of chips occasionally, so I do slip up every now and again.

Nicely done KK. My only fear is that too many people will read this and I won't be the only in-shape guy in my office anymore...

My snacks usually consist of almonds, baby carrots, yogurt and raw brocolli, but I think I'll be branching out into some of the stuff you mentioned. Now if I could just make a great tasting diet beer...

Yep, George, Beef Jerky is also one of my favorite snacks. It is damn expensive though.
I also like a 1/4cup honey roasted peanuts or an apple as a snack.

P.S. anyone have any luck making their own beef jerky?
