Thanks Mike. I was debating whether I should get the BCAAs or not, but it's good to have someone reaffirm my choice. I took out the creatine because if I missed a workout it would mess up my schedule. Now I'm just taking that and BA (when I start) in the mornings.

I mostly wanted to post to let people know to try the strawberry kiwi, though. I really like it.

new mix? what is waxy maize starch? Is that better than malto/dextrose? Also do you still reccomend stevia after that article? It seems like Splenda or nothing would be better options.

alright looked up some old posts. After reading several posts I dont see any concensus on WMS vs Dextrose/Maltrodextrin. Apparently you and others dont buy into the WMS hype. So I am torn between the two.

Edit: btw I dont have any crashes with detroxse/malto. If this is the case should I just stick with it?

I used both, currently use WMS

and I have to say WMS is a pain the in ass

it's so chalky, you are covered in white powder in no time, you look like a cocaine dealer

Dextrose/Maltro it mix so easy not even comparable

anyway the fact it doesnt bloat you up and you can pretty much consume a lot of it vs dextrose is enough for me

Im sticking with WMS

ok thanks i think ill stick with malto/dextroes for now. I think Madmick should update the shake by subbing stevia for splenda.

Edit: i Personally am gonna have no additives as I can bare the taste

So would it be worthwhile changing the creatine for beta alanine instead?

I'm still trying to work out whether it's worth using hydrolized whey as opposed to a blend of whey isolate and whey protein. I could maybe understand if i were doing multiple sessions in a day but for one-a-day training is it really going to make that much difference?

I'm a student with little funds so the cost of the hydrollized stuff is what's making me question it more than anything.

I'd be using this peri-WO and PWO so 2 servings a day is gonna work out pricey

The benefits seem numerous:

Summary of Effects

In summary, the following effects are noted due to Beta Alanine supplementation:

* faster muscle contraction
* resistance to anaerobic fatigue
* increased stimulus for strength/muscle recovery
* enhanced neural protection and recovery

taken from this article

Although he does mention that combining creatine and BA has a synergistic effect so maybe it should stay and some of the other ratios are changed around instead.

But which ratios to change?

30% protein
60% carbs
4% creatine
3% BCAA
3% Beta Alanine?

The price difference between using a hydrolisate and a 2/1 mix of isolate/concetrate was only about £1.50 per kg so i probably will just go with hydrolized, or at worst a hydro/isolate blend. I'm still not convinced that it's absolutely necessary, bearing in mind that liquids are absorbed relatively quickly anyway but i suppose only trial and error will tell! I may go with a 2/1 hydro/isolate blend just for taste reasons, as i understand hydro is very bitter.
