Need help choosing a good diet/exercise plan (non-fighter) please!!!
Hi, let me tell you a bit about myself first before you make any suggestions. I'm 19, and trying to get in shape before my wedding. I'm a very petite girl (only 5'3") and I have a similar figure as Jessica Simpson I'd say, except without the thick thighs. I'm 104 pounds (I know, it sounds very skinny), but I am very 'curvy', and that's what I am trying to rid myself of. My hips and chest look disporportionally large compared to the rest of my tiny frame. I don't have any defined muscles on my body because I don't really exercise (because I have exercise-endued asthma). I have been doing the extremely restrictive Atkins diet off and on for about a year now, but I only last a week or so, so it hasn't really done much. I'm on my 4th day as of today, and doing GREAT! I'm really sticking with it extremely well, but if there's something that works better (or keeps the weight off longer), please let me know. Also, are there any exercises that reduce hip size? I've been doing squats and situps (as well at bicep curls and such), and my ass/thighs have never been so sore in my life! BUT... I'm hoping that will give me some great definition in my legs. Running/jogging is NOT an option because last time, I went into the hospital because I couldn't breathe. Also, I can't do too much because I have a severe back injury with disc and vertebrae problems. All in all, if anyone who knows a lot about this sort of thing PLEASE suggest some exercises that will whip my body into shape! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

exercises: hack squats (you have to go deep to hit the gluts)
Laying leg curls for the hams (back of legs)
leg exstentions
Those are 3 good leg exercises, i picked these because you have a bad back.
As for diet, i'm not a big fan of the Atkins diet, i just don't think you can lead a active lifestyle with so little carbs. No running sux cause it's the best way to burn off fat.
And if you do have a Jessica Simpson liked figure as you've said, this forum allows you to send pictures! ahaah, sorry just kidding.

Okay that sounds great! Just please tell me what a hack squat is if you don't mind... I've been doing body squats (the ones where you put your hands behind your head and then go down so far that your thighs are parallel with the floor), but I must tell you, I've never been so sore in my LIFE as after I did those! lol I also did these things (I never saw anyone do them, but the seemed to work the muscle I was going for), where I stand up and keep going up on my tip-toes, and then back down, but never letting my heels rest flat on the floor again. That really made my calves sore, so I figured it was working. Then I did walking lunges, getting down really deep so that my knee almost touched the FLOOR. hahaha The Atkins worked for my mother, whose figure is almost exactly like mine, which is why I tried to do it.
Maybe I'll try to walk more. Even if I have to walk for 2 hours a day, I have that kind of time now that I'm out of school and work, with my back injury. Would that make a difference at all, or do you have to be at least jogging for it to make a difference?
haha I'll think about posting a picture, but I've had some creepy stalkers online before that became obsessed with me once they saw my picture (I'm not trying to brag, but that's the truth). Well, I already described my body, and my face is pretty much just that classic, pretty look. I don't have any weird features, and I think that all of my features just go really well together. Salma Hyiek's (spelling?) eyebrows (when she doesn't have a unibrow... hahah) are similar to mine. I can't really think of any celebrity that I look like other than that... Thanks again!

the hack squat i was talking about is with the Machine. Ok, questions, are you in a gym or a home?
Are you willing to do something other then the atkins? and how bad is your back? Also you might want to talk to your doctor about this too, about you target heart rates you can handle and such. I'll be back on later tonight.
PS you're crazy, the old jess simpson is way hotter then the new one!

I'm at a home, but I can get a membership to a gym (I've been looking for an excuse NOT to, but I think it's finally come to that). lol I am pretty reluctant to do anything other than Atkins because it worked for me. I was almost 125 at one time, when I was eating breads, pasta, potatoes, and very limited meats and protein (basically following the food guide pyramid), and once I did the Atkins (basically the OPPOSITE of that), the weight fell off of me. My back is very bad. I have subluxation (displaced vertebrae) in 9 places and I get severe numbness and pain in my arms if I sit. My doctors all said that strengthening my body would help though, and not hurt it, as long as I took it easy. Eh, I'm not really looking to become a body builder or anything that would require working out a lot to work my heart, so heart rates and such don't really concern me or my doctor (I have asked thoug)... I'm actually looking to do as little exercise as possible, plus, since I'm young and relatively healthy, I think that's why my doctor wasn't so concerned about it.
Thank you so much for trying to help me!!!
