How much is a scoop?

I just started doing protein shakes to lean down and the whey I bought counts two scoops as a serving. There's no scoop in the bottle so how much is in a scoop? tablespoons, cups ???

Are you sure there's no scoop? Sometimes the sucker can be buried pretty deep.

If you truly don't have a scoop, then simply take a peek at the supplement's label to see what constitutes a serving weight-wise (often disclosed in grams). Grab a scale and weigh away!

The reason the scoop goes to the bottom is because it weighs more than your powder. If you don't want to dig, turn the jug up-side-down. Shake it around for 10-15 seconds and turn it right-side-up and the scoop should be on top.

There is ~4g of L-Glutamine per 25g of whey protein.

I got another question though. Does it matter what kind of work out you're doing before you take PWO protein? For example, I usually do strength training, cardio, and then lighter thai pad work etc. Does it matter if I take it within 45 mins of much lighter exercise but over 45 minutes past my cardio?

Ha ha!, this has come up quite a lot of late. The makers of these things should put somekind of warning on the sides of the packaging to advise their customers to dig deep for the scoop! - maybe it's FAQ worthy? - j/k

I actually have about 3 or 4 spare scoops lying in the around incase disaster strikes!

I use whey after almost any workout, although I sometimes don't take it if I do lighter endurance work like LSD running etc - there was actually a thread on this the other day posted by MikeMartial which questioned the impact of PWO drinks in relation with light endurance workouts (note - take it with a pinch of salt though). If you want to read more about post workout nutrition then you should look at John Berardi's website www.johnberardi.com - there's a lot of good advice on there about what to eat, just type in something like 'post workout' into the search function and it has some good articles to read, it also goes into details about the ratio of protein/carbs in relation to bodyweight but even if it's a bit too specific for you the general advice is good.
