Pasta?

I am a poor college kid and I find that one of the easiest ways to get my carbs is through pasta. I usually eat about at least 800 calories a day in it.

I try to eat pretty good veggies and olive oil and lean meats and stuff, but it can get expensive .

I know I should go for whole wheat or some such nonsense but it's just not in the budget.

Is this bad? Is regular pasta really that bad?

What's your total calorie intake? And what are your goals?

Pasta is pretty dense as far as carbs go, but it's surprising low on the insulin index.

I eat whole wheat pasta 5 days a week for lunch. It is actually very cheap. Every Sunday I cook a whole box of it and mix it with 1 jar of sauce + 2 lbs of lean ground beef. Less than $15 for 5 days of lunch.

Honestly, different people function better on different levels of carb or protein intake.

Pasta shouldn't be a huge problem in of itself, it's when you get into rich alfredo sauces and other sauces that are heavy on cream or cheese. But pasta with a light marinara or tomato sauce shouldn't be too problematic.

You shouldn't eat pasta for all 3 meals, but pasta can be a great meal especially after a very tough workout. If you balance it with fruits veggies and lean protein it shouldn't be bad for you at all.

If you work out a lot, then you actually want a lot of high GI carbs such as pasta (which is basically clean, no?)

Eat it after workouts, and you don't have to feel guilty!
