I haven't had the chance to look yet. Sorry it takes me so long these days but I don't have as much time to myself as I used to.

site i found...good read for anyone interested
Interesting study.

This I found concerning:

A role for leucine as an enhancer of insulin sensitivity also implies the possibility that prolonged very high intakes of leucine might lead to insulin resistance, in an analogous way to insulin resistance resulting from prolonged hyperglycemia. This might ultimately lead to a blunting of the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis by food intake. Moreover, because parts of the signaling pathways from insulin to protein synthesis are shared with those involved in the regulation of glucose ****bolism, as discussed previously (26), there is the possibility that overstimulation by leucine could lead to abnormalities of glucose ****bolism.

Dammit, I have to do some looking up. Because the funny thing is I recently read an article about how Leucine could stimulate fat loss, not hinder it.

First I've seen this thread.

Concerning the insulin resistance... the study commented that very high consumption in rats could lead to insulin resistance but "within the normal physiological concentration range of leucine and insulin" it increased protein synthesis and insulin sensitivity.

My take,
When studies reference very high consumption in rats, it normally means above and beyond a dosage that any rational human being could ever consume. I wouldn't worry about that whatsoever.

Good point Monger. Any idea what ideal human consumption levels would be? I'm thinking about trying this out...
I'm curious cause I was looking at true protein's leucine and in the 100g packs it says serving size is 500mg, but if you buy it by the pound it says serving size is 5g. Big difference there.

I'm not sure there is an "ideal" amount. There are tons of variables in there. It's been awhile since I looked at leucine specific studies and sometimes they can be a good gage for dosing. Anywhere from 5-20grams is probably beneficial... in certain circumstances. Check out the Berardi article that Mike posted. It has some fairly current information in there and I believe suggested dosing may be included. I might dig up some leucine studies if I have time... that's a big "might" though
