Just got my blood work results back. Please help with input and advice

Ok, I get my blood work done 2x a year just to make sure all my vitamin levels are good and everything is ok.

Well I got myresults back today and the Dr said he is worried about my IRON SATURATION levels at 66%. He said that is pretty high and thinks I might have an IRON OVERLOAD situation. He is setting me up to come back in and meet with him.

I didnt have time to ask him, so i figured I would check here b4 I go back to talk with him.
Is this caused by my diet, or can it just be a genetics type situation?

any ideas?

Guys don't really need iron. We have huge iron stores (3 or 4 weeks) and extra iron can cause cancer in us, not good. Women really do need to supplement with iron and can deplete their iron stores within a matter of days. My doctor has told me time and again to buy vitamins with little or no iron added, a lot of 50+, and seniors vitamins are like this. On the other hand my wife has to take an iron sup.

I don't know shit about it but doing a quick search under "Iron Overload" gave me the following info.

If the correct terminology was used (Iron Overload), it appears unlikely that the OP would develop such an issue from consuming too much iron in his diet. I only assume that based on the search I did in the link above and reviewing the treatments, causes, etc...

AH, I just saw his first line said having the blood tests done to check his vitamin levels which made me assume he was taking quite a few of them.

Possibly both. If you end up having a genetic disorder, like hemochromatosis, the only way to effectively lower your levels is with phlebotomy. Unless your diet is very high in iron you won't have to change it much, you will want to avoid supplements with iron and vitamin c.
