Insomnia
for any of you felllas who also deal with insomnia, have you found anything, anything at all, that's helped you fall/stay asleep? Do you know of any foods or herbs that are helpful in these areas?
i've tried melatonin, and sometimes it works.
thanks.

i have a bit of trouble with insomnia from time to time. I attribute alot of it to the no-xplode. Here's an article that may help you out. It's about valerian root. The melatonin you take isn't really a sedative or "sleep promoter" as much as it is a "cycle regulator." It's more to keep your body's circadian rhythms in check. Anyways, here you go:

i had horrible problems with insomnia in college since i graduated its completely gone. for me it was the irregularity of my schedule, drinking and staying out all night on the weekends and training at night. it fucked my shit up, id sleep a couple hours at night, i d be exhausted during the day and pass out for an hour or two during the day and train at night and be apmed up and couldnt get back to sleep, it was a horrible cycle and it took its tool on me( i was tired all the time and got sick constantly). i'd lay in bed for hours and couldnt fall asleep.
i dont know what your schedule is like but if its all over the place like mine was try your best to regulate it and reduce stress as much as possible. i sleep like i did when i was a kid now, because i have a somewhat normal schedule and alot less stress. i also workout in the mouring and landscape all day so that wears my ass out, well see what happens during my first year of teaching in the fall.

Insomnia is different for different people usually. There's two main areas.
- If when you go to sleep your mind is racing and you can't turn off your brain proverbially, then try time-released melatonin (for sustained slepe throughout the night), or Kava Kava if you can find it.
- If your body won't stop moving (like restless leg syndrome or something) then the answer is Magnesium Citrate besut used in a powder called "Natural Calm"...or ZMA.

I had some insomnia around Christmas-time... My dad gave me valerian root and some kinda tea that's supposed to help ya relax (might've been chamomile, but I that doesn't seem right), and that helped a bit.

I actually deal with insomnia and have had it for almost two years, I tried sleep aids and so far the only thing they do is cause me to hallucinate like I haven't slept in three days. Usually at the three day awake mark my body completely just shuts down and I actually do get sleep, but it is a pain in the neck for those first two nights. I actually want to try out a few of these natural remedies, but right now I am using all the time I don't sleep for finals prep, so after school gets out I will have to do a test on myself to see what works the best, but relaxation techniques and meditating at least helps me relax and stay focused when I can sleep so that would be my best recommendation for dealing with some of the side effects of not sleeping.

ZMA + 500mg GABA + 50mg diphenhydramine = KTFO
being a shiftworker, I've tried everything under the sun that can be attained legally. So far, my current formula seems to work the best.

LOL. That reminds me, someone used the term "CroCopped" in the Standup forum. That's funny and sad, at the same time.
