Caffeine is an alkaloid, wich there are numerous compounds such as the methylxanthines, with three distinguished compounds: caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine, found in guarana, kola nuts, coffee, tea, cocoa beans, mate and other plants. These compounds have different biochemical effects, and are present in different ratios in the different plant sources.
It is a powerful stimulant to the Central Nervous System wich causes the effect your looking for. Moderate use seems to be desireable for most people (i think), male and female; although excessive use can produce undesireable effects. Caffeine was discovered in 1820. In 1838, it was found that theine, a substance in tea, was identical to caffeine. Six or so caffeine containing plants are used more worldwide as a beverage than any other plants and herbal materials put together. hey you said you want to know all about caffeine! lol

Caffeine is a power and energy accelerant! It's perfect to super energize your body for powerful workouts. caffeine is fast acting and delivers the right molecular structure to your energy systems for maximum energy and power output. Caffeine is kinda like Ephedra it acts to increase mental alertness and provide the surge you need to maximize your training. Not just a stimulant, this powerful substance reaches deep into the muscle cell to provide lasting power and delaying the onset of muscle fatigue.
The chemical structure of caffeine is very similar to that of adenine (a component of ATP, DNA, and cyclic AMP). Only the substituents are different. This helps explain caffeine's stimulating effects. It is really close to being an energy ****bolite in and of itself, Because of the structural similarities, caffeine can go right into adenosine receptors, keeping cyclic AMP active rather than it being broken down. When cyclic AMP breaks down, the body's energy supply decreases. Because caffeine fools the body into using enzymes to break it down instead, the cyclic AMP supply remains higher for longer. I bet you guys always wanted to know that.
It increases the potency of aspirin or other analgestics. The majority of caffeine is produced in decaffeinating coffee.
another thing!!! this is important!!
One of the main problems with caffeine is that it is a diuretic, meaning it DOES dehydrate you!! It does this by taking the water out of your body's cells, which causes you to urinate more. Dehydration can lead to a number of annoying side effects such as headaches, feeling weak, and muscle cramps. Caffeine, in large amounts, can cause the body to lose calcium and potassium, causing sore muscles and delayed recovery time after exercise.
caffeine is a physically addicting drug and causes withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms include headaches, fatigue, drowsiness, irritability and temporary depression so i would probably be carefull, but i doubt you guys have lot to worry about. You may experience a couple of these symptoms on days when you skip your regular amounts of your energy drinks and energy pills.
If you do drink more than 100 milligrams of caffeine a day, try to cut down slowly. The slower you cut down the less harsh your caffeine withdrawal symptoms will be. Try replacing one caffeinated beverage a day with a different beverage such as water, juice, sports drink, or drinking half decaffeinated, half caffeinated coffee. Remember moderation is the key!lol
good luck to you all

Some guys here say that caffeine is not a diuretic. I dont get it, doesn't a diuretic increase the rate of pissing and caffeine makes you piss more so why isn't it a diuretic?

I agree with the first post. One thing to add - It adds to general aggravation.
It does however, feel good to "come down." I drink diet sodas all day at work (6 to 7). On Saturday, my head begins to clear - The back of me head loosens up and I feel great!

Despite what you'll pretty much read EVERYWHERE, caffiene IS NOT a diuretic. Yes, i know you found it on the internet saying it was, but it isn't. It acts on the smooth muscle of the bladder, contracting it. Then, you pee. But you don't lose any more fluid than you normally would. Like during a night of binge drinking in Mexico with your cousin.

I'd like to see any actual Medical studies confirming any of this information on a consistent basis. Considering Rjkd12 and Terumo (who both work in labs conducting Medical studies IRL) have both posted the contrary on a lot of this information ad-nauseum.
This just looks like something you found on the Internet and posted here. Most of us who frequent this forum use "dangerous" amounts of caffeine on a consistent basis and have done so for years.

Dangerous is in quotes. That implies sarcasm. The reason I did so is because in all that information up there not a single dose is mentioned aside from 100mg, which is ridiculously low. Some posters here have used in excess of 1 gram per day once tolerance is built.
