I went from 132 this time last year to 150+/- today, so YES you can gain weight
Just thought I'd give a heads up, I mostly read stickies, make threads every now and then, but I just want to tell readers here-
Yes you can gain weight. I don't give a shit what myth you believe. You have fast metabolism, you're a Capricorn, whatever.
The bottom line is, I used to think I ate a lot last year, and then I manned up and made a high calorie diet that I stuck to. Over the last 10 months, I gained about 15 pounds.
First:
I lift heavy. I do conditioning, but for a solid 8 months out of that time frame, I was doing a heavy lifting routine. Squats, bench press, dead lifts, pull ups and things of that nature.
Second:
A lot of whole milk. I tried to do GOMAD, but I couldn't keep up with it throughout the day, so I just drank as much milk as I could. A full glass in the morning, a full glass in the afternoon and another full glass at night at least 4 days a week.
Third:
I don't eat three gargantuan meals, or one moon sized meal. I eat 5 or 6 times a day, with milk and tea in between each meal, along with fruits and nuts.
Like in the morning when I'm barely awake, I eat a bowl of oatmeal, a banana, some nuts, drink a glass of milk and then leave for school.
After my first class, I eat a full breakfast. Eggs, bacon, potatoes and wheat toast. I know most of the shit I'm eating isn't fully organic green vegetables from fresh off of the Green Giant's nutsack, but fuck you. My goal isn't to eat purified antioxidants or whatever. My goal is to gain weight and not eat junk food or drink soda.
I eat snacks between breakfast and lunch and then I have lunch. After lunch, after my class, I eat some nuts (I carry a ziplock bag full of them with me at school) and a piece of fruit and another glass of milk while I'm on my way home.
Then dinner. After dinner and before bed, more nuts and fruit (canned pineapples are the shit) and hopefully milk before bed.
Also, I eat broccoli whenever I can. Usually it's with dinner, but the point is I have some kind of serving of green vegetables a day and usually it's a good amount, like a whole bowl of broccoli, steamed without any shit added to them.
I used to think I had a super high metabolism and it was impossible for me to gain weight. I was only right about one thing, it was impossible for me to gain weight. I was wrong about the reason though. The reason was because I had that mindstate and thought what I was doing was enough. It isn't.
My waist size is the same, but my chest is filling up my shirts now and my shoulders are wider and my quads are bigger. I'm happy with it. Listen to the people on this board, you're not eating enough I promise.
