Alpha Lipoic Acid

I've previously been supplementing with fish oil for about 4 months, and over the last 5 weeks I have been taking alpha-lipoic acid along with it and have been seeing better results in terms of recovery and fat loss.

Alpha-lipoic acid is unique in the sense that it is an antioxidant that is both fat and water soluble, and boosts sugar ****bolism and insulin sensitivity (same thing?), which is a reason why I also take it along with dextrose post-workout.

Have any of you guys ever supplemented with ALA? What were your experiences?

ALA is good shit. I use about 600mg per day and it helps as an anti-oxidant, I've also seen a reduction in the amount of floaters in my eyes, which it's been noted to help with.

Try it out. Floaters are often a result of oxidation in the eyes.

Do you have any recommendations on how much is too much? I've been taking 1200mg a day myself.

That's a lot, but I've not heard of it being dangerous. Costly though.

Egh, fuck detached retinas. That's why I'm getting my eyes fixed BEFORE I fight. And even then I still might not be able to get Licensed in Nevada. If you've had eye surgery sometimes they deny licenses because of the vulnerability to damage.

Just make sure to get PRK instead of LASIK or LASEK, and you should be in the clear. Spekaing of which, I got PRK done in November, and after 17years with glasses, it's freaking amazing to be able to function without them.

You've got to be fucking kidding me, I thought I was the only one my age getting them.

I had an "acute" onset of floaters when I was in college in my late 20's; I don't honestly think there's anything acute about them, but I just suddenly noticed them when I was walking outside (yup, sunny day) between classes. They fucking drive me bananas, and I assumed it had to do with hitting the books for ungodly hours. The ophthalmologist I saw never did give me a good answer as to why they appear in some people and not others.

I may have to re-visit supplementing with ALA.
