How Bad Is It.....
To eat a late dinner? I work until 8:30 and I'll eat around 5:30. But after the gym I get home around 10:30 starving and can't help myself from eating. People say you shouldn't eat past 7:00pm but is it really that bad for you?

I always eat right before I go to bed...My goals are to gain/maintain muscle, and lose fat. As long as you're not scarfing big macs late nite, or ever, you're fine.

Don't worry about what "people" say, the vast majority of nutrition information out there is bull anyway.
I've found that when I'm cutting weight, limiting my pre-bed meal to around 200 calories helps a lot. If you're not worried about losing weight, make your pre-bed meal as large as you want. Heck, guys who are struggling to GAIN weight should drink a bunch of water before bed so they'll have to wake up at night, which gives them an oppurtunity to down a big glass of whole milk or some other highly caloric substance.
Another interesting tib bit: Having calories, especially carbs, in your system makes for a better night's sleep.

I've read that if you want a deeper sleep, you should go to bed on an empty stomach (unless, of course, you can't sleep because you're so hungry, in which case a light snack is okay). The general rule I've read is nothing within 2 hours of bedtime, and that dinner should be a light meal (in comparison to lunch and breakfast).

Those "general rules" don't apply to people who lift weights. They apply to fat housewives/office workers.
Read up on proper nutrition for people who do what you do.

I usually stop by McDonald's on my way home from the gym for a big mac combo (SUPERSIZE ME!) and one of their apple pies (diet coke of course, gotta watch the figure). Then I throw everything in a blender and drink it like a shake. Sometimes I'll only use half the diet coke if I want it to be more like a soup.

Keep it to just relatively lean meet and veggies, with very little carbs (no refined), and you're fine.
