Hmm, what are burger joints doing that I'm not

when I cook up ground beef on the pan, it's not anywhere as good as a burger from a fast food/ regular restaurant. It's just heating up the meat no? What are they doing that I'm not.

It's not just ground beef. Onion, breadcrumbs, a little egg, some chemicals, etc. are all added.

Alright here's the secret. For the best constancy and taste use 85/15 meat.

Season it with Lawry's on both sides. Not too heavy or all youll taste is salt.

Make sure you fry it in an already heated pan, because it sears the meat locking in the flavor when you first put it in the pan.

Flip the burger every 2 to 3 minutes, do not smash it with the spatula because it will squeeze the juices out and dry out your burger.

7-8 min worth of cooking should be medium rare, 12 to 15 will be well done.

*edit*
oh and if your trying to make the healthiest burger, this probably isnt gonna be for you

Yes some places add stuff like that. Another thing to consider is they use a well seasoned griddle to cook the meat on. Also as meats cook they release juices in your pan. If you cook stuff in batches the second batch might just taste better than the first because it had the benefits of the juices from the first.

Some freebies (nutritionally neutral/good) to add to the meat before you cook it:

Basil
Ground Pepper
Garlic
Onion flakes

Seasoning salt is all. And grease.
