Is this a good post-workout breakfast?

I usually run or do crossfit every morning for two hours. After PT I goto the chow hall and I eat the following everyday for breakfast...'

Buscuit and gravy, cottage cheese w/ raisins and walnuts, some grapes, banana, 3 8oz glasses of water and an 8oz glass of lowfat milk.

I'm not trying to lose weight, just intake a solid amount of protein, water and carbs after pt in a healthy way. Any good?

Well, if this is first meal after a workout you might want a protein thats faster absorbing. Milk is good, but cottage cheese is pretty much all casein I think, which is really slow . Whey is optimal post workout, but you probably know that already.

Fruits are good in the am, if I remember correctly, don't about biscuits and gravy though man. Maybe once in awhile, but for very breakfast?

The eggs at the chow hall blow save for the hard boiled eggs, which I might start choosing over the biscuit and gravy.

How long after breakfast do you have to wait to eat lunch?

adambomb, what school do you go to? I see you're from WA

Also, NO to the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits are often made with hydrogenated shortening which has trans fat which is very BAD. Gravy is all saturated fat. Replace it with some good protein.

I've made biscuits without shortening. Instead, I managed to cram 1/2 a stick of butter into each one. The only thing that trumps biscuits are croissants for butter:actual food ratio.

It's not necessary to remove all fats from the diet, especially that early in the morning. And, he already stated the he doesn't want to gain nor lose he just wants to remain constant which the small amount of fats (comparatively) are not going to keep him from achieving that goal. Also, the fats can potentially work as an appetite suppressant as the body will be pacified with them. Again, the bisuits and gravy are fine for the morning but come 5pm or so they would be an absolute no..unless you didn't plan on sleeping until 5am in which case they would be fine again.

And he said "chow hall" and is at Ft. Lewis which means he's in the military, probably in "school" for his future career. Ever see what the chow hall does to young men and women. I knew a guy who went in to the marines @ 5'8"ish / 115lbs. tops! @ 18. Next time I saw him he was 20 @ 5'11" 170 lean and mean eating nothing but chow hall. He'll be ok with the biscuits. Shit, if he's getting the kind of exercise I think he's getting he'll need all those fats.
