Glycaemic Index Effects on Fuel Partitioning in Humans

Glycaemic Index Effects on Fuel Partitioning in Humans - Research Review by Lyle McDonald
Just a small exerpt, but I thought this was a pretty good read.

I’m not going to detail each and every one but, with one or two exceptions, the majority simply found no significant difference in things like fatty acid suppression or fuel oxidation despite significant differences in blood glucose and insulin response. Even longer term intervention studies of 30 days to 10 weeks found no significant impact on weight or body composition for diets designed with different GI levels....

Excellent read; Lyle's stuff is always top-notch.

While I'm still strongly under the opinion that insulin has a huge influence on body composition, I think it can be safely stated that diet + athletes is a completely different game than diet + sedentary.

I admit to only skimming parts of the article, but that's the impression I got too.

I guess GI isnt relavent in fat oxidation afterall, but rather carbs in general.

Regardless, in most cases, high GI foods wont affect sugar crashes if you eat an ideal amount of fat and fiber anyway, but of course it doesnt mean you should replace all our veggies with ricecakez.

And yeah I agree, LM did say that athletes who train blunt insulin, so all of this is even LESS relevant to a hard training athlete

This pretty much sums up how I see it.
