Gaining weight while on a diet?

I'm 5'10 185 lbs and have recently started going to BJJ class again twice a week. I'm trying to take it very seriously this time and am changing my eating habits. I started about a month ago and have gained 5 lbs... I figured by now I would have lost more than that. My diet goes like this:

Supplements: Multivitamin, Fish oil capsules.

Breakfast - 1/2 cup Quaker oats, 1/2 cup Muscle Milk, 1 cup skim milk, Banana, Coke Zero (500 cals)

Snack - Non-fat Greek yogurt, 1 cup blueberries, water (150 cals)

Lunch - Salad with turkey, spinach, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, broccoli, calorie free mustard, fat free cottage cheese, 1tsp extra virgin olive oil. Coke Zero (~400 cals)

Snack - 1 serving of almonds or an apple, water (170 cals)

Dinner - Brown/wild rice, broccoli, carrots, 2 veggie dogs and 1tsp of ketchup (450 cals)

So that puts me around 1700 calories. I go to class 2 days a week for an hour. Other than that, I don't do much exercise. Am I just being impatient? I tried a more restrictive diet in the past and lost about 30 lbs in 3 months. It was only 200-300 calories less than this diet, but I was hungry all the time and it was horrible. On this diet I'm not that hungry.

Any advice would be very helpful,

Thanks!

its possible that you recomped by cleaning up your diet. or that you are eating more cals than you think you are.

Coke Zero for breakfast can't be good. Diet looks ok though, just do cardio whenever you can.

Your diet is defnitely not perfect, but it's better than most diets I've seen on Sherdog and in general and should be able to lose weight just fine.

I suggest you do some extra training.

Whether it's hitting the heavy bag, more jiu jitsu or some running/jogging (big difference).

I agree with most above. Intake is good but you should consider 1-2 miles run/jog as much as you can fit it in.

try to hit up more clases/ do some more cardio but most importantly lose the coke zero, it may be "0" cal but its definitely not good for you and it is probably the reason you are gaining weight. Other then that good diet.

170 calories in an apple? thats one huge apple. If you really are eating only 1700 calories a day (which I doubt) and putting on weight, you should probably go see your doctor to make sure youre okay, you may have thyroid issues or something.

You say you were eating 1400-1500 calories before this and you lost 30lbs in 3 months which equals 2.5 pounds of weight loss a week. Now youre saying you eat 1700 calories a day and you are putting on 1 pound a week, the numbers just dont add up. So 3 months ago you were @ 215 lbs? probably eating terribly? and around ~3000 kcals? and then you suddenly drop to eating ~1500 calories to lose weight. Your body is now reacting to this, if you want to be more healthy you need to get on a long term diet that you will stick to. You are measuring your ketchup to the teaspoon and yet youre still drinking coke zero?
