The body goes into a state of ketosis on a low carb diet, which is basically the transition of using carbs(insulin) for energy to using fat for energy. During this stage, which usually lasts 1-2 weeks, a person has little energy. A lot of people even get sick in this time and quit the diet because of it. It is a normal thing. Once the body is keto-adapted, energy levels will go back to normal, and in most cases better than before starting the diet.
Make sure you're getting plenty of fat(atleast 30% of your diet, minimum). Protein alone is toxic. The more fat you eat, the more energy you will have. I eat in the range of 60-80% fat. Cholesterol is not a worry on a low carb diet because carbohydrates are needed to get it in the blood.
