Family and dieting problems

I moved back with my parents as I am moving to Canada at the end of the month. I have been living here for a month and the lack of understanding, respect and ignorance is overwhelming. I am sorry about my emoish venting but I am tired of trying to reason with them.

The thing is that my sister and mother dont know anything about nutrion or dieting. They dont listen to what I say about dieting; they eat little protein and veggies, a lot of starches and no fat. My sister actually had the nerve to say to me that its a mistake to eat protein powder.

They always make equal amounts of food for everyone. I can understand this but they always whine to me on eating too much. They say I should eat just as much as my sister. I usually eat what they give me and then eat bread with veggies and deli later. My sister is 120lbs and doesnt do anything and I am 160lbs and train 1-2 times a day - I run, do bw exercises and train mma. So you understand when I have to eat more. I calculated on a online calorypage that I have to eat twice as much calories as my sister.

My sister and mother just dont understand this. We have had huge fights on this. I tried to explain to them that I am bigger and do more stuff during the day so I have to eat more and they just dont get it. Sister said that you should eat less, diet! And my mother just doesnt believe me... They are whining on me eating all the time. At first I ignored them but they are buggin me all the time. It gets into my nerve when I hear 3-4 times a day that I eat too much!

They dont buy anything I ask them to from the store. My mother buys food for my sister and the whole family but buys nothing if I ask. I asked just for a bag of spinach and she didnt buy it, I bought some spinach myself but she didnt use them at salad or anything even though I asked... She even makes jokes about me and my spinach. I showed him some info about spinach and how healty it is but she didnt believe me.

When I moved here I bought my own food as I was dieting for a competition. They were always bugging me on "you should eat the same foods as we", "isnt this dinner I made not good enough for you?" So it feels like whatever I do its wrong.

I would like to hear if anyone elses family is the same and if you have somehow solved this.

i feel ya man.. i have a family that doesnt know shit about nutrition either, i had to figure out everything on my own. I've tried to talk to them about things before and they look at me like im on crack if i say anything about protein ect. Best way to solve it is to move out, or tell them to stfu. Then when your big time later on you can say, i told ya so.

I don't know if this sounds cold or.. aren't you a grown man? I think the solution is simple. Tell them you are a grown man and that is what you like to eat so that is what you are going to eat. Be stubborn just like them if you have to..

Quit bitching and make your own food. You don't need your mommy to cook for you.

learn to cook. it's the only way you can have a healthy diet unless you're stupid rich.

also, ladies love dudes who can cook. it's one of my biggest advantages because no one dislikes a guy who can cook for you. parents love that shit too, plus they see you cook healthy, you're gold.

it's much cheaper than going out (we all spend enough on training anyways) and it's just as good when you're good at it. anyone can take someone out, but a guy who can take a girl to his place and whip up a healthy and delicious meal might as well just drop his pants as soon as the plates hit the table.

i used to really be into preaching my methods, but i just save my breath now unless someone is asking for information. if someone wants to poison their self with shitty food, so be it. i'll be there to help if they change their mind, but i'm not doing to brainwash anyone.

I lived on my own place for 4 years so I dont think I am childish. I take care of my own shit etc. I´ve been in the military too. I still cook some food for myself: breakfast, snacks and POW meals. I eat dinner my mother makes but thats it. Sometimes mother makes some lunch too.

But I decided to buy food tomorrow and just ignore them. I just have to last a few weeks.
I have heard that its common that when people move back to their parents place they are threated as they are still teenagers.

At some point you're just going to have to say, "I'm a man, bitch!"

Ifeel for you man. I'm in the same situation when I go home. My parents don't really care about nutrition which is the reason they're fat. Just cook for yourself and tell your sister to STFU. I'm guessing your around 24 so you are a grown man. I had to be harsh with my parents to get them to accept my new lifestyle. Don't let anybody boss you around.

Yeah I was a bit harsh yesterday but it seemed to work. They were a lot more understanding now. Hopefully I dont have to fight about this again.
