Eating light right before cardio...

My day is jam packed from the time i wake up till the time that i go to bed. I am doing the 6/7 meal a day diet, eating right. I don't really have time to start eating earlier, or changing it to later since i am eating so much and am so busy. (not trying to bulk or cut, just maintain) Is it ok to eat a kashi honey flax bar *right* before i go do 30-45 mins of cardio?

I ask this because my meal plan puts my granola bar at 11:30, then cardio at 1145ish to 1230ish. Immediately after cardio I drink a protein shake (protein, 20 oz green tea, 6 oz of yogurt, and a large handful of spinach), then at 2:00 pm i eat 2 handfuls of broccoli and carrots.

If need be i can list my whole diet and times if that'll help. Thanks for the help in adanced.

Oh, and cage free, no harmone, no antibiotic eggs, or .....
free range, no harmone, no antibiotic eggs? They seem to have all the same properties (same omega 3's even) but the free range are about 1.00$ more expensive..I am eating the cage free right now. (both are sold by same company.)

This isn't an answer to your question, but what kind of granola bars are you eating? Those Nature Valley ones, for example, contain high fructose corn syrup which is just a bunch of empty calories that produce a big insulin spike, and fat in yr belleh.

I don't see anything wrong with eating light before cardio. If your body doesn't like it, it will let you know. I typically eat an all-natural peanut butter, honey and banana sandwich on whole wheat about 30 mins before intense cardio.

Yep, the granola bar is the Kashi brand honey almond flax.

So, should i axe out the kashi bar before cardio and replace it with some more protein and carbs? I am just afraid i am not properly fueling myself before cardio; by not eating right / proper timing before.

I completely disagree with you, they suck. I feel like I am eating hay.

I always eat something before cardio. Why not? Get a little protein and carbs in the system. If I'm running or working out early, I will have had a bowl of muesli (salt and sugar free) with some raw almonds and dried apricots on top, and a protein shake made with Tropicana and a banana. I've also already consumed about a litre of water.

lol really? i think they're great compared to some bars. Greens+ bars, i hear they taste waaaay worse. I think the kashi ones taste pretty good, esp the almond flax and peanut butter ones. But i don't eat them anymore, for some reason EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT that kashi makes gives me gas that's just all kinds of bad.

Can't really answer that. What I eat before cardio now is what I used to eat before a wreslting match back in HS. I wasn't concerned with losing weight, I just needed energy for the match. If you're running to shed excess body fat, and I'm guessing here, you'd want to limit your pre-run intake. I could be wrong though.
