I got a free bottle of Beta K by Ultimate Nutrition. BA and Kre-Alkaline. I haven't taken BA in about 6 months. I'm going to measure any improvements that occur while taking this supp, as I'm not changing anything else about my routine or diet.

I have a question. I am no expert, so please if I am little off base bear with me.

The way I understand it, BA buffers muscles from acidoses allowing muslce tissues to work longer without fatigue. But what allows the muscle to work longer in the absence of an energy source? Does the delaying fatigue give the kreb cycle enough time to process the lactate into ATP?

Creatine, enters directly into the CK cycle providing energy until depleted.

I guess my question is, what is the superior supplement for timed anaerobic sports (like grappling)?

To me it seems like creatine would be a superior supplement since it provides additional energy, where BA only delays muscle soreness. The idea being you can work through the pain, but not through energy depletion.

I would like to start supplementing BA and\or creatine and I cant seem to make up my mind which. I am right on the edge of my weight division and fear the water retention of creatine. At the same time I don't like the way in which BA seems to workm, assuming it provides no additional energy.

I am on week 2 of BA

I had a 12 km trail run last night and I can't see any energy increase...

The delayed pain (lactic acid) is true...my legs were stronger on hill sections even though my lungs were burning (damn its still cold up here in the mountains!!!).

I would say from my limited experience that it makes you stronger and increases recovery but unless you have the conditioning to keep up, you'll need additional energy from something else.

I would think since it is one of the newest discoveries in the supplement industry all kinds of things havent been realized about it yet. Why not try both it and creatine out and decide which workds best for you?

I've been reading this thread and about BA in general for a while now and I've finally decided to give it a go. I'm really excited about this one but I'm not looking forward to the tingles. I'll post on here in a week or so with the results. I'm hoping that it's as kick ass as everyone is making out.
