Its hard to say. I'm a "results not typical" type of guy who seems to get the maximum benefit from supplementation. My work capacity has increased and I don't feel close to overtraining yet.
Basically, if I'm wasting it, I'm okay with that. 10 grams may not be any better, but its also not any worse; and I have plenty of BA left.
(3 weeks out from my first MMA fight).

I can totally see the point of using that much per day, considering your situation. If I was preparing for a fight, I'd be mainlining BA all day long.

Just wondering if the doctorine that is beta alanine and taurine taken together is problematic (competition for receptors).

I know someone linked a pubmed article about the effects but I can't find it and can't find anything on google

Ian,

I linked some references in your thread here that may help you...
Beta Alanine

Also, my understanding is that it may delay the uptake of taurine into muscle tissue but it won't prevent it.

Check your PM's.

Hmm...you've got me interested, and since I'm in your same boat (golden gloves in 3 weeks) I'm going to up mine too, 5g preWO in the morning and 5g Pre-training in the evening. Previously I have been taking it 2.5g preWO morning, 2.5g pre-training in the evening.

Bring on the tingles...

Didn't bother me tonight. I'll update if it does in the future days.

edit: Also I didn't get much in the way of tingling, which surprised me.

I've used it a lot in the last six months and my athletes are making much faster progress, especially at high doses. Up the dose until you get tingly, then back down a little. I think people should take 10 grams of it a day. Taking 3 grams a day is just far too small of a dose. That dose is like trying to fart against a hurricane.
