I'm not throwing an insult at anyone; it's the way you took it. I'm stating that sometimes people excel at what they are doing, even if their methods for achieving said goal are counter productive.
Eating a vegetarian diet IS counter productive---proteins are inefficient, glucagon/insulin ration is unbalanced, and overall carbohydrate intake is too elevated. These are just facts.
Google "famous vegetarian athletes". You get hits which brings up a list of about 40 or so folks. That's it? What about the 1000s that aren't?
Do the same for "vegan centenarians". You get none. Personally, I find that more interesting.
I really don't care if someone is a vegetarian or not; I've trained more than a few clients that started as vegetarians, but converted to Paleo permanently once they saw the data and, more importantly, the way they feel----better recovery, increased LBM, reduced BF, etc etc.
If someone is going to do it for moral/ethical reasons---fine. But saying it's a more efficient diet for an athlete is just plain incorrect.

Yes, the key to health and performance is eating what you crave. Someone should let the obese half of America about this sound dietary principle

What does this even mean?
What a long post to say absolutley nothing other then that you know absolutely nothing about what is actually healthy for you, and that you are a complete fucking idiot. Good job.
Thank you for verifying my reasons for posting that picture in here.

You're being very modest. Thousands? I'd say keep going.

Every now and then the hippies come out to play. If it is for moral reasons cool. My zen priest and quite a few that attend my center are vegetarians. Cool reason to be.
But to say it's for athletic performance or anything along those lines, is pure bull shit.

well, considering that only 3-5 percent of the adult population in america are vegetarians, i'd say thats about right. cant imagine how many top athletes are even vegetarian at all.
i get plenty of protein, and feel great.
besides, lets not forget that poor little wimpy vegan mac danzig, a natural 155'er, won the TUF tournament as a WW. where was their meat then?

He's a prime example of the point I was making.

To me it isn't interesting that there aren't any vegan centenarians to read about on internet. is there any diet that consistently produces centenarians? I would say it is more about the individual. also studies have showed that vegetarians live longer, at least longer than on a traditional western diet, and then im not talking about an american diet.
and can you be a vegan or a vegetarian to your full potentials as a athlete, sure I think so. is it for everyone? probably not. If I wasn't a vegan of moral reasons I would throw in some animal products into my diet just to make it easier for myself and make sure I got everything I needed. But then again I have been a vegan for 10 years and is in alot better shape then alot of people who train harder then me.
