Aluminum Foil on George Foreman

Is this a bad idea? I HATE cleaning the Foreman after I cook...it always has residual nastiness on it and I can never get it really clean again.

Is there any reason I shouldn't use aluminum foil (or something similar) to keep my Foreman clean?

I wouldn't put aluminum on a non-stick surface. Just buy a brush to scrub it with and wash it while it's still hot after you use it. It'll come clean real quick & easy.

I thought part of the appeal of a George Foreman Grill was the fact that you can clean it by scraping off the burnt stuff using that plastic scraper thing they gave you.

If that's too hard, why not just heat up the grill and then wipe off the juicy stuff when it's hot with a towel?

Foremans are worthless, IMO. They don't do anything I can't do with a stove and an oven. Just takes up extra space and is a bigger pain in the ass to clean to boot.

I was a big advocate of the foreman, but it became a real pain to clean.

I ended up removing bits of teflon because some food got stuck to it.
I used the aluminium foil on it and it worked ok. I've heard of other peopel doing the same.

That said, now I use the fat from stuff I have cooked for more flavour.

Tasty

I usually just like the thing clean. I mean why not. Its a waste of extra juices to simply just wash it off. Kids are starving in Africa you know.

Hear, hear - I got a grill pan for that very reason, easier to use, clean and store.

QFT. I used to think my foreman was the shit. Then it stopped working, and I started cooking in the over. I got the exact same (if not better) results and pans are a lot easier to clean than that ribbed pos.

It's just a marketing gimic.
