5-day water fast

Im 24hrs into a 5-day water fast.

If anyone is interested I will post updates, or you could just post advice or your own experiences fasting for health benefits.

I am also doing updates every-so-often on my twitter.

Wish me luck!!

So you are taking in zero calories for 5 days in a row?

Im kinda confused what and why you are doing such a thing?

Maybe more info would clear things up but if your just drinking water for 5 days, Im not sure why a human would do such a thing?

I was a bit confused there for a second I thought you meant you weren't going to take any water for 5 ways in which case I thought you would die.

Best of luck then mate I guess you will be quite light afterwards I remember diego sanchez did something similar to get his weight down.

Im drinking plenty of water and the occasional cup of zero-calorie green tea. But no food. None.

I would be hard pushed to explain exactly why I would fast for 5 days (theres some great sites if you google fasting) but in short my reasons are;

to give the colon/stomach chance to fully repair
break the mental bond we share with food
revitalise energy/hopefully sort out and improve some weird sleep patterns of mine
test myself mentally/improve will power/trigger enlightenment and soul searching

the weight loss is an added benefit, but not a major reason i am doing this. my weight fluctuates between fights, like virtually any fighter's, and i am able to control my weight with regular diet without having to fast. (although i must admit since my last fight my bond and fondness of bad foods is at its all-time high, i guess endless 'staying in shape' and weight cutting for fights will do this to ya!!)

I went 36 hours without food earlier this year just to see if I could do it. It's easy if you stay busy and well hydrated. I was renovating a house at the time so I was working moderately hard for all three days.

The breaking the relationship with food thing seems like a big one to me as I find that diets are a lot about momentum once you get in the routine whether good or bad its easy to follow or hard to break.

What do you mean by give the colon a chance to repair? I've been having a lot of stomach aches recently I'm just wondering.

Will you be doing much/any training during this?

Really? I didn't eat for two days for a weight cut and I staid in bed all day and did literally absolutely nothing and let my room turn into a pig sty I couldn't have imagined moving I wouldn't have had the energy.

PS my sig must be really annoying at this time for you I think it's all bollocks to put off his opponents. but it makes me laugh.

Should be interesting if you make it the 5 days.

What was the weight before? Im also curious to see how training might go if you are going to be working out at all during this.

if you choose to fast you will realise by the end of the very first day that "hunger" is all mental, its all in your head.
you have plenty of undigested food stored in your stomach that will be broken down during the fast and used as energy.

whilst the colon is in a constant state of use it will never fully repair.
only by completely emptying the contents of your stomach and giving it a good rest will it truly start to heal fully.
theres a lot i dont understand about this process, i dont claim to be any expert but i have done this once before about 2 yrs ago and the results were good. hence why i am so keen to do it again

unlike last time (the nucleus for my original fast was food poisoning) this time i will be doing some training, a little zoo-zitsui just once a day, i think tomorow morning, thursday morning, oh and i have a grappling competition on the saturday- the day i break my fast.
that should be awesome, lol.
