Wrist Pains..

less then 2 weeks ago i hurt my wrist playing street hockey.I was in net and the equipment i was using was very heavy. I guess i was being care less with the goalie stick, next morning all i felt was my wrist throbing. its been sore every since. Not to the point where i cant use it,cause im typing right now but i cant do any push-ups, and right now it swelling up. Im wondering is it just a muscle or should i go check this out. Has any body ever have this problem.

My suggestion would be to rest it, ice it, take some ibuprofen and strap it up to avoid aggravating it any more. If it hurts for mroe than a few days take it to the doctor. If you see any localised swelling (a lump on your wrist) there's a decent chance you've got a ganglion, which are common among people who've done pad work without hand wraps (I've got one from when I first started MT).

Talking of wrists... does anyone have any advice on strengthening the wrist. I injured it a while ago in the gym, and was advised to rest up, and take painkillers. I gave it a couple of weeks, and all was well, but it's gone again.

I can control the pain with tablets, but i'd rather find ways of stengthening it!

Anyone with any ideas?

Hmmm.. A fairly basic question on strengthening, if only there was a forum around here about strength and a mod kindly enough to put all the basic questions into a single thread, perhaps entitled 'Sherdog S&P forum FAQ' or something similar, then you could just go there and read up on ways to strengthen your wrists ans hands. Which would of course help to prevent further wrist problems.

Oh well, a guy can dream......

BZZZZ Wrong answer, not only is there no muscles actually in the wrist, they're all in the forearm, you can't work one without the other, but they're also pretty much the least effective way to strengthen the wrist.

The correct answer, for those of you too lazy to mosy on over to S&P is a wrsit roller and sledgehammer levering.
