Would it be more beneifcal to

instead of using running as my LSD training to use shadowboxing or light heavybag work.

I would work the bag lightly for 30-45 minutes instaed of running for that long. Trying to stay as sport specific as possible. I did it today and thought it went well

There's no way running LSD is not sport specific bro. It's essential. For all the blabitiflap that has been tossed around about LSD running, I've never heard one single completely valid reason to remove it completely and supplement it with something else. Run, AND do shadowboxing or light heavybag work.

Why would you not run? Its proven, and enables you to get your breath back after a flurry or when the round ends, and helps you fight for a longer period of time. HIIT mimics the shorts bursts, but a fight is 3 2-5 minute rounds (depending on whether its boxing/muay thai or MMA) fought at a constant pace. How does running hard for 15 seconds, then stopping COMPLETELY for a period of time, mimic a fight? Obviously it helps, but you need both anearobic and aerobic.

If you don't think distance running is hard enough or beneficial, why don't you just run it faster and aim to beat your time? There is not one person living today that couldn't make themselves completely exhausted on a 4 mile run. You can ALWAYS push harder.

Running at 70-80% Max HR for 30-45 min

Heavy bag 70-80% Max HR for 30-45 min
(Keep in mind the heavy bag is continuous for 30-45 min, not in rounds)

If you are are training for a fight I would think the second one would be more benifical for a fight as far as training the aerobic system is goes.

I still do HIIT 3x a week

So...do you just not move your feet in a fight? If you want to incorporate heavy bag cardio into your workout, awesome. But you asked our opinions, so far we've all said don't drop LSD running completely
