will increasing my flexibility lower my running time?

so i recently came across this line in a thread here
"any advice on how to become more flexible? As it's really holding me back with sprinting"
first i want to know if that is even possible, that stretching can lower/increase your sprinting.
2nd as of now , my lowest part of my "fitness" is flexibility, if i increase that will it help me improve my 5k time?

If the inflexibility is inhibiting proper mechanics, sure, if not, I doubt it.

Doing some dynamic stretching or whatnot as part of warming up is a bit different.

work on
leg muscle being balances
work on your scapula in your back muscle to help your stride
dyamic ( like the guy up there posted)
stretch atleast 3-4 muscle groups but stretch the particular muscle that bothers you EVERY TIME after warmup, after your work out

You`d need a rather long stride in sprinting so flexibility could hold you back. You`d have to be pretty damm unflexible tho.

Flexibility enhances the development of coordination, technique and the ability of the motor system to receive stimuli.

An athlete with greater flexibility generates acceleration over a greater range of motion, ultimately increasing speed. Flexibility is the rate-determining factor.
