Will a cold shower really recover me from training?

What I want to do is increase my training session longer. So when I'm exhausted can I just take a cold shower for 5min. and then return training again. Does this sound like a stupid idea or do you think it will work?

This sounds like a bad idea, you would save time by not showering and just hydrating with a beverage that replenishes electrolytes and blood and intramuscular glycogen.

I'm still drinking to replenish myself but not enough to really help me continue hard. I figure maybe I'll be able to absorb more through my skin than consuming it.

you think you can absorb more water through your skin than through drinking it?

I wonder if you should even be training...

If you're training in an extremely hot place, then it could conceivably help...but then again it might just reset your internal heat loss mechanisms, and make things worse. Cold water is used to reduce inflammation after training sometimes, but it's not really a good idea to do that during...you want as much blood flow going as possible.

I'd say just keep trying to work out longer, you will naturally build your work capacity.

i cold soak post workout in a tub of ice water, so definitely do it after your entire workout is done.

I often have a cold bath/shower after my workouts, especially if I'm doing any heavy lifting and have found it to be beneficial in reducing DOMS.

But I wouldn't do it during your workout and then start training again. Save it for post workout, it'll help reduce DOMS.
