I use a kettlestack which is plate loaded.Right now I keep it around 40 lbs. I'm just a broke college student, and I really like using the actual kettlebell but as far as keeping cost down, plate loaded is the way to go. Also, I dropped mine one time, and they replaced it for only the cost of shipping.

I've been doing alot of high rep timed rounds as of late. This is a workout I did last Friday.

All rounds are set for 5 minutes with a 1 minute rest period.

1R 2 handed swings
1R hang clean & press right
1R hang clean & press left
1R windmill right
1R windmill left
1R front squat right
1R front squat left

and finished with a round of tabata jump rope.

What's everyone's thoughts on the traditional russian style vs. the modified versions?

What's the difference?

I often see these RKC vs. AKC topics on other boards but they always seem like a hush hush topic. What's the big deal?

Two pair. 54lb and 70lb.

I usually use them for warm-ups, swings and snatches.
I do a lot of tabata's: swings, snatches, clean and press.
Swings + punch-out drill tabata.

Sometimes double-snatches with the 70's.

I think the best is the TGU, bent-press, windmill workout.

I drag them since I don't have a sled, although the 70's can groove a nice rut in the park that most don't appreciate I'm sure.

I've been working on the double TGU with the 54's but I seem to still be lacking shoulder flexibility, quite a tricky movement.

I had a friend paint on them, which looks cooler than a painted DB.

I have one 24kg. I use it mostly for swings and snatches. I've been meaning to lug it out to the park and try some throws with it this summer. I've done Ross' Magic 50 with it a few times, that's been my favorite use so far.

Yeah, we have about 16-20 kettlebells from Agatsu. Really happy with them. I'm not familiar enough with other brands to give you an accurate comparison - but they are very comfortable and chalk sticks to them well (even in extreme humidity >90%).

I have no idea bout AKC but what I do know about is that RKC as in Pavels group does "hard style" which in my opinion is the better conditioner for anyone that dont want to compete as a girya. The other style is more loose and designed to make you do more reps with less effort, obviously less effective as a generall conditioner and the few guys I have seen that does it kind of look like shit (not speaking about all just the few I seen on tapes and the net and such). Now for the kettlebell nerds im sure its more complex but for me hard style all the way.

I dont own a kettlebell, but I propably pick one up in the fall, right now when I do alot of outside the gym stuff a kettlebell feels about as solid an investment as I could do. I really dont feel its to expensive, choose a kettlebell over a new videogame and your set...

OK, I see. So the AKC style is geared more towards efficiency and is geared more towards competition.

I've tried a few different brands. I really like the Agatsu bells. But like I said, the Pro Style AKC bells are the best that I've tried. They're all the same size regardless of weight and the handles are just the right size.

One style is more keeping a fluid motion so that in a girya competition you can get more reps in with less effort.I prefer starting each rep from a stationary position to work on being more explosive.
