What to do?

I have a fight a month from Saturday. What type of strength and conditioning should I look at. I fought a week and a half ago so I'm still in good shape ,but I would like to lose about 7 or 8 pounds. I will be training mma 5 days a week for this fight. Thanks in advance.

what did you do before?

what are your primary goals? strength, mass, muscle endurance, cardiovascular endurance?

who do you train with? skill level? how many people? who is your coach? etc. etc. etc.

My biggest change will be moving down in weight from 150 to 145. My first fight was 155, second was at 150 and now I am going down to 145. This is a much better weight for me, but I would like to remain strong at this weight. Right now I weigh about 160. I haven't been lifting as much since I started fighting regularly mainly due to time contraints with school. I was wondering what everyone thought about lifting heavy a month or focusing more on curcuits and complexes. I know I will need to be doing a bit of running to lose the weight. I am 5'6'' with probably 12-13 percent bodyfat and I m 25 yrs old. I train out of the Hardcore Gym in Athens Ga and have for about a year.

oh, so you probably have some decent training partners. im just curious what you've done in the past for strength training (be very specific) and endurance training (muscle and cardio) as well as what you do for skill training and sparring.

It depends on what you want more really.. I think with a month out, you're going to be hard pressed to develop a very solid strength base and have decent muscular endurance. Either way, I think you should pick one or the other and go all out.

In the past I have worked the usual split, bodybuilder style, but that was quite a few years ago. I guess doing some type of circuit with sprints and longer distance would be good. With the food restriction I don't know if heavy lifting is the best idear. Any good circuit ideas and maybe how many days a week.
Yeah, there are some great guys to train with here. A lot of up and comers and some established athletes, but it is still relatively small so there is lots of instruction. Adam an Rory Singer are awesome coaches. As far as training, we roll mon and wed hard for an hour, kickbox w/ takedons teus and thurs and mn and wed pre grappling is mit work or partner drills and tues and thurs pre sparring are light roll and lots of instruction. Fri is open gym. Class is pretty much 2 hrs a day

so you're getting good fight endurance just from practice.

to supplement that, I suggest that you immediately buy Ross Enamait's Infinite Intensity or Never Gymless. Do a search on here for reviews of them as they come HIGHLY touted from everybody on this board who's come in contact with Ross or his publications. Vids and sample workouts are on the website.

For some good circuit ideas, you can check out my log, as well as finnegan and Bubble Boy for some ideas for circuits.
