Weight pulling/sledgehammer questions

I am planning on getting a tire to drag for a weight pulling workout to add to my conditioning routine. On top of that, I am getting a sledgehammer/tire for a good total body workout. This leads me to a few questions:

1) Where do I get a harness to attach to the tire for sprints?

2) What's a good weight to start with for the tire to drag? (I weigh 180 pounds and am in pretty decent shape)

3) How much should the tire weigh that I get for pounding with the sledge? (keeping in mind that I'm going to have bring the thing to an outdoor workout spot each time I use it)

4) Would it be possible to use the same tire for both, or would the sledge give it too much of a beating?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help

1) Where do I get a harness to attach to the tire for sprints?

If you are just doing sprints even a thick length of nylon webbing will work will, as long as you can place it across your hips you should be fine, thats all i use.

2) What's a good weight to start with for the tire to drag? (I weigh 180 pounds and am in pretty decent shape)

Alot depends on the surface, in most cases when you are doing sprints you want to have enough weight to add drag but not really slow you down too much. Usually sprint sleds run around 50 - 100lbs

3) How much should the tire weigh that I get for pounding with the sledge? (keeping in mind that I'm going to have bring the thing to an outdoor workout spot each time I use it)

You're going to need a good sized tire if you want to be able to really go off on it with the sledge, something like a normal car tire will bounce all over the place, all that means if you will have to let it settle after each swing but that hinders the workout. One for a dumptruck or a semi should be perfect.

4) Would it be possible to use the same tire for both, or would the sledge give it too much of a beating?

Yes it's possible you will need a heavy beaded tire though espeially if you add a wooden piece under for additionial weights
