Weight Loss

Hey people

Just curious as to how I should approach this. Im 27yrs old and totally out of shape. I blame no one except myself. Im 5'8 and weigh in at around 245 give or take. Most of it is in my gut. I would like to be around 160 or so by sometime next year. I could really use some good down to earth no BS tips. All ideas are welcome.

Honestly, stop eating whatever you're eating. Eat clean food, stay away from fried food especially fast food. Start a new workout program doing cardio at least 3 days a week and some light (or heavy probably light since you don't want to get too big) lifting at least 2-3 times a week as well. You have to change the way you live completely. Spend at least 30mins minimum when you first start out with your cardio and increase to 1 hr a day for at least 3 days a week within 3 months of training. Then lift weights at least 30mins 2-3 times a week.

And most of those diet pills ie: Hydroxycut and what not do and don't work but aren't worth the after effects such as the headaches, heart palpitations and what not. Just work hard. BTW, once you get around 200 lbs, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) will work very well and takes up less time (around 15-25mins) only and burns a ton of calories.

Basically, you are going to want to lift, do conditioning, and eat correctly. Here is your plan of attack:

Lifting: Go to S&P and start the routine in the FAQ, it's very solid. Make sure form is solid on all the movements though.

Conditioning: IBUR (for beginners). Look it up in the FAQ.

Nutrition: John Berardi's 7 habits. Live it, love it, learn it, utilize it.
