Running. There's a reason it's called "the shrinking man's sport". And if she has bad knees/joints, an elliptical machine.

I lost a lot of water weight by going on the bike/elliptical/stairmaster/treadmill.

Exercise and fixin' her diet are the two best ways to correct that.

agreed. if your mom is genetically prone to carry water weight, then having her pee it out with a diurertic or exercise profusely to sweat it out will only be a temporary solution. i believe the answer here lies in changing her diet, losing fat, and gaining muscle.

lower sodium intake drastically and the "water weight" will fall off. Unless of course there is an underlying health issue.

Lower sodium and drastic cut of carbohydrates, it's like a sponge!

Back off on salt. Drink more water, I heard that sometimes people aren't drinking enough water and their body tries to retain it.

Correct me if I am mis informed guys!

cut carbs, walking (if she has bad joints), meds like Lasix (Furorese) could help but contact a physician about that stuff. does she have any health problems? test her blood 'cause loosing minerals like natrium and kalium are not really good for the heart. i'm a paramedic so i've seen a few people have serious heart problems. remember, your mom istn't a athlete (or is she) the advice here is good but talk with a doctor first......that's my advice
