visceral vs subcutaneous

Does anyone know if you can actually burn off visceral fat? Is it more difficult than subcutaneous, if so? Thanks.

I don't think you can really burn too much visceral fat. (by that you mean fat around your organs,eyes,etc...) It's there for a reason, to protect your organs and keep you warm, your body has to have some of it to function properly. You can't really target fat loss in a specific area either. With a clean diet, and good cardio plan you should be burning fat at a reasonable pace.

I think this might be the kind of fat you want to keep...

Its that I can squeeze a sub-par 6 pack but when I relax my belly sticks out and have read thats due to visceral fat behind the abdominal wall. It has only really went like that since I turned 35 approx.

Is there anything I can do about that?

Oh, it's a bulging six pack thread...

More likely it's a postural misalignment (forward pelvic tilt) or the result of doing too many situps in relation to other parts of the core. Google rectus abdominus and read up.

Also this article has plenty of good info...

Train harder, train smarter...

Maybe it's something in your diet, or training. It's hard to tell. You should read the stickies, they will help tremendously.

Generally, exercise reduces subcutaneous fat and diet reduces visceral fat.
