Treadmill Repair
Anyone take in a treadmill to get repaired before? I don't know exactly how to describe it, but the treadmill is "slipping" when I run on it. The belt stops occasionally when my foot plants. It almost makes you fall. I tried tightening and loosening the belt, but that didn't work. The manual doesn't really address this particular problem.
A bike shop around here fixes treadmills. Do any of you have any experience with taking a treadmill in to get fixed? I don't know the cost, but worst case scenario would be to have it fix and it only work temporarily.
The treadmill costs about $1k years ago, but I could probably find a similar one for $750 right now.

That's what I was leaning towards. If we can sell this broken one to the bike shop, that would be great. It would be funny if they gave me a repair estimate and said it would be no problem. I could respond by buying a treadmill from them and asking for a trade-in credit. They couldn't respond with "This treadmill isn't worth repairing" then.
I almost don't want to get another one as I run outside a lot. I can't imagine an entire winter without running though.

The belt has expanded and has too much slack. There are two allen wrench slots at the end of either rail. You have to unscrew them and let them out. Make sure you give each side the same amount of turns.

I tightened them as the manual said so the belt wouldn't be too loose. They are at the back end of the treadmill. What do you mean by unscrew them and let them out? I thought I was supposed to tighten them.

I've had problems with my treadmill when I got it- the incline didn't work.
I called the company and they were nice enough to talk me through how to fix it, that didn't work so they sent a new motor and board for the treadmill and said they were going to send someone over to come fix it for us...me and my dad replaced the board and it worked fine.
So try that, call the number on the manuel and they'll talk you through it or send someone to your house and fix it.
I've got a New Balance treadmill btw

Same thing happened to my treadmill but my dad called the company and they sent someone over to fix it. I think they replaced the motor.

When they came to fix it, how long had you owned the treadmill? I am giving it a shot regardless, but my girlfriend has owned it over 8 years.

Sorry, I have been away. When I said let them out I was referring to the roller at the end of the deck. If you loosen the screws, the roller will let out (meaning it will expand). If the roller expands, it will pull the slack out of the belt making the belt tight again so it does not slip.
I owned a gym and had to do it regularly.
You can also find details on line.
