Struggle with weight class.....

Just trying to gather some info from anyone that wants to put their 2 cents in.....Here goes....I'm in a weird spot with my weight.

I'm debating on what weight class to be in at the U.S. Open. Currently I'm right around 164 lbs. with just shorts on. Adding a decent gi and I'm over the 167.5 limit for "light weights". That would put me in the bottom of the middles that go up to 180 lbs.

My problem is....I'm probably sitting at 7% BF and I just don't know if I could cut anymore....looking in a mirror I'm pretty well ripped up and I just don't see how I could be any lighter. The other issue is................ready for this? I stand at 6' 3" ! How many light weights are that tall?Huh?? I "should" be closer to the 180 mark at my height! Looking at me you would never guess I'm so light. I feel strong and I don't look skinny. I don't know what to do to though. Stay light weight and hope I weigh in under the 167.5 with the gi on? Or......try to put on a few lbs. ?

I train 4 times a week pretty hard and on the opposite days I do a lot of crossfit workouts. Mostly bodyweight but I do use different sets of dumb bells a lot. Weighted pull-ups, push-ups, squats, thrusters, misc dumb bell routines etc.

My diet is ridiculously clean and I eat quite a bit so if I wanted to put on some muscle weight It would be some work for me......so......anyone have any thoughts?

Yeah, that's always an option......not sure how difficult that would be on the day of the tournament though.

Sounds like you need a few days of super dieter's tea, extra fiber, and a single day of fluid restriction. Couple of balance bars on that restriction day, they're only 1.75 oz's each.

Or you could just compete up a class for the experience.

That's the thing....I've competed in a lot of weight classes. I've been all the way up to 200 lbs. before. So being a "light weight" is new ground for me.

I think it may be easier to cut a bit more rather than try to gain 4 or 5 lbs. But I seem to be leveled off at my current weight.
