Stiff neck the next morning, does this go away?

So I've only been rolling for a few months now. Very often by the end of class my neck feels slightly stiff or awkward. By that night it's slightly painful and stiff, and by the morning I wake up and it's really stiff. These seems to be happening a lot. Usually it runs down from my neck to the middle top of my back or to the side to my traps area. I'm 6'2-3" and 165-170lb to so I do have a very long neck.

My question is...as I get stiff necks is my neck getting stronger and will this keep happening? I'm also training in Muay Thai so the clinch is probably helping with the neck stiffness and strengthening too.

Do you guys have any recommendations for medication when it's bad? The doctor gave me some minor muscle relaxer, but it doesn't seem to have much impact.

That's pretty normal, anytime i did alot of wresting or clinch work my neck would be stiff the next day. Just DOMS really, if you have pain though as in a sharp sensation it's something more serious.

Stretching and a massage will help your neck feel better and obviously time off would do the trick too, but you should get used to it in time.
