Starting conditioning after sickness

I've just finally gotten over a chest infection, which has kept me out of commission for 6 weeks. I was on anti-biotics, powder inhalers, ventolin, other tablets, and am now getting over it and have the doctors okay to start exercising again.

What's the best way to get started? My lungs and cardio system are pretty much weak at the moment.

I've had so much different advice from so many people, but I know the guys here actually KNOW what they are talking about.

I train western broadsword three a week, and MMA three times a week.

I've been told to:

Just get back into it where I was; your body will adapt quicker.
Go with the LSD to build it up again.
Just start up walking up hills.
Sprints to bring back my wind.
Ignore the cardio and just hit the weights for a while
Not worry about additional training, just go to classes for now and add it back in later.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would start with LSD work, see how you feel after that and work up slowly.

More shorter low intensity bouts of exercise. 10 minutes a few different times per day. Walk, trott, walk. Use very light weights and just start to bring tension back into the muscle.

Good luck.

Good advice here. Just take things slowly. You can still work hard, but don't lift to failure or things like that. Just take time easing back into your routine.

You did experience a significant event. If you rush it, you could cause damage that will take a while to fix. Slow and steady.

I will second all the advice so far. I had pneumonia a while back- that crap takes a lot out of you, whether or not you realize how much now, you will when you start training again. Go slow for a week or two, then start poking around and testing yourself again. Good luck!
