Sore Feet Muscles

I just started Thai Boxing and running. My cardio sucks and the workouts kick my ass, but I am experiencing something strange that I never had before, sore feet muscles the day after. Im sure its just delayed muscle soreness brought on by the fact that its been a couple years since I had to do anything where I had to be light on my feet, not to mention I weigh 280.

My question is have any of you has this problem? And does anyone know anything I could do to strengthen my feet faster? Or should I just wait it out?

That's an odd one. Try sticking your feet in an ice bath post workout - this should aid circulation and diminish any lactose pain, if that's the case. Otherwise take a look at your shoes and make sure they're fit for purpose. If it continues it's probably time to see a podiatrist.

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I took about a 4 month break from muay thai and then started up at a new gym (Big John McCarthy's). The muscles at the bottoms of my feet were really sore after my first lesson back. We did a lot of running and calf work, and I think the fact that the pads are thicker at Big John's had something to do with it too because they flex so much and your foot moves a particular way to in thicker pads to keep balance therefore making them more sore..

I just rubbed the hell out of the bottom of my feet with my thumbs to give them a nice massage. The soreness will go away in a few days and as you keep training, you shouldn't get sore there at all anymore.

I often have sore tendons after running, especially in the arches of my feet. It usually happens first thing in the morning and the arches are really tight until they get some blood flowing. I wouldnt be too concerned with it, unless it becomes a common thing and they hurt ALL the time. If they do hurt all the time you may be overtraining and developing some sort of injury such as plantar fasciitis.

My feet always hurt bad at the beginning of track season. It's fairly normal, especially for people with less than perfect feet (i have near no arch). I can't stress enough how much ice baths help. They hurt like a son of a gun sometimes, but after a couple times you are used to it, and can sit back and enjoy the solid freeze you're getting. I used an old gatorade tub (the kind you'd pour on a football coach), filled it near halfway with ice, the other half with ice cold water, and would leave my feet in for about 20 min.

Helped my shin splints, helped when I had a broken foot and practiced on it for a while, and I felt it helped me PREVENT injuries to the lower leg as well. I'd like to try taking a full body ice bath some time.
