My first thought is that there is no cushioning which might cause a bit of wear and tear on your ankles/knees/hips. You could buy some cheap foam mats for a bit of cushioning, something like this: Walmart.com: Step2 Play Mats: Kids' & Teen Rooms . That said, I don't think it's that big a deal unless you are really heavy.

I skip on concrete bare foot about oce a week to condition my feet but i don't think It would be good to do all the time, just bu the way it feels on my joints, I never jump fast, just a good stedy pace for about 5 3min rounds 30 sec. rest. My skipping with shoes on is much more intence

don't do it. blisters + shin splints + unneccessary pressure on knees. we used to do it in kyokushin as a warm up, and the dojo has cement floors except the ring. it got painful. learn to do it with shoes, or buy a thin mat.

I was jump roping barefoot on concrete one day and felt some serious pain in my foot. Couldn't really do any skipping or running after that without a lot of pain during and after for about a month. I wouldn't suggest it. At least wear some comfortable shoes, but many experienced guys like Ross say to try and do it on a mat or something as much as possible.

I'll second the mat suggestion from experience.

Soon enough you won't be comfortable skipping barefoot. I'd pick the lesser of the two evils and start learning to jump in shoes.
