Shakey Muscles

My usual workout plan looks something like this:

1hr cardio
1hr technique
1hr thai pad work/sparring

I noticed that I've started to get the shakes towards the end of my workout and that I'm sometimes still shakey even the next day. I eat after I workout and usually have something light like a banana before I workout also.

How do I stop shaking? Is it bad that I'm so shakey?

Thanks!

Muscle glycogen depletion. Eat more before you tear a muscle.

Try mixing some protein with that banana. I usually start the day with a banana and a penutbutter sandwich

Thanks. I'll definitely start doing pre-workout protein.

I had the same symptoms a few years ago and eneded up seriously tearing a hamstring. 3 hours is long time for hard training, you need to re-evalute you diet.

I guess I should mosey on over to the Diet forum, because I don't really know how I should be eating to maintain my workout regime. Thanks for the warning.

The shakes are a sign that you have overworked yourself; and having them well into the next day is a REALLY bad sign, as it's a sign of exhaustion. I know that everyone wants to push themselves, but you lose form and efficiency by overworking. If you're going to insist on this routine, I would suggest drinking LOTS of water while training, energy drinks (such as Gatorade); and eating a high protein/clean carb meal afterwards. If that doesn't help, (I HATE SUPPLEMENTS) Some sort of post workout recovery drink or creatine will help you get the extra water needed for recovery, as will ZMA (taken before bed).

My bio teacher talked about this; a student asked why his hands were shaky after weight lifting and the teacher said it was because there was so much lactic acid that the shaking is helping to release it (kind of like how your body shivers when you're cold I guess)

Not sure if it's the same case as yours though, could be since you're working out a long time.

Do you eat a lot of acidic food?

I don't want to overwork my muscles, but I'd like to stay with this workout plan at least twice a week and cut down to two hours for three days a week. Its hard for me to tell if I'm overworking myself because my cardio is so strong that I don't really feel fatigued after training. The only major change has been the shaking. I mostly want to avoid injury. I'm definitely going to start increasing my protein even more and using an electrolyte.

does creatine help absorb water? i tend to shy away from supps (except whey) too, but maybe I should be looking into things for hydration.

Thanks.
