Shadow boxing for cardio?

Hey guys, Im wondering if shadowboxing is a good form of cardio. Like if I do 5 2 min rounds with a 1 minute rest in between would it improve my overall cardio and cut some fat? thanks for any help guys.

Technically anything you do can be good for cardio, but there are things that are undeniably better than others.

You can certainly do this to supplement your main cardio program, but I doubt it would be effective on its own unless you are doing some straight up krump/shadow boxing fusion routine that makes you look like one of those cartoon fist tornados.

Shadow boxing is more for technique, form, and focus.

IMO, if the pace is high tempo, shadow boxing rounds are good for cardio.

Yes it is good for your cardio. But expand your training. After 5 times try 3 min rounds, then again after 5 times decrease rest period to 30 sec. After that you can start shadowboxing with small weights in your hands.
If you do it right you can sweat your ass off in 15 minutes.

It can also be used for cardio if done at a higher intensity but is mainly used for movement and technique.

Movement i believe but technique i doubt.
You can shadowbox with combinations like in a fight and then i want to recall my previous statement. But when u shadowbox non-stop, no combinations but non-stop punching it is mainly for cardio and muscle endurance.

Between that type of shadowboxing (High tempo I believe was the used phrased) and running. Which would be better for cardio if you put the same amount of effort/push into both?
